In Perspective

This is commonly known as the most expensive music video ever made. The artist is Michael Jackson in a collaboration with his sister Janet. He was always known for his elaborate advertising campaigns for example in promotion for his album "HIStory" several statues made of marble were erected in several different countries around the world. The whole advertising campagine cost Sony a total of $30 million.
This is the actule video for the song I'm using for my music video. It was filmed in the bassist mum's lounge at a party had no budget and no storyboard. It was filmed off the cuff and was not planned, they were just midway through a set decided to film it. This style of music video stayed with them up until they headlined Brixton Academy in London without even signing a record deal, this makes them the first independent band to do this ever. It has 4.5 million views on youtube which admittedly only a sixth of the 24 million that Scream has but in my opinion this is a better video.

Coincidence

After the disaster I had filming my draft music video this video by the recently famous Don Broco reminded me that production values and a solid concept isnt everything.

Booking Out Highcross

I need to ring this number up to book out a area of the car park due to their health and safty policy.

Re: Draft Of Music Video

This is a very basic draft of my video. It was filmed at the High Cross car park and midway through filming we were told to leave but they also told us that if we rang up in advamce we could film here again so when it comes to filming my legit video there will be all shots included.

Update

After a change in song and concept I am finally blogging again.

The song I had originally intended to use was by my own band No More Adventures, after the realisation that the song was not ready for this project, this has set me back slightly. Now I am doing the song Sabotage by the band Cancer Bats. It is a cover of a song by the Beastie Boys. My video concept has changed. I have a storyboard and a animatic being uploaded today and I have started designing my didgipack. Sorry for the lack of updates lots of info coming soon.

New ideas

After a re-evaluation of my initial concept I have decided to make a change. Where my original idea was purely performance based, I have decided to add a narrative and ditch most of the performance. I have a new location and a new main star. My basic idea is about the whole world stopping and just you being left in real time. This is my starting location:

and the main charecter will go on a journey through many different terains of the stopped world and showing isolation and discovery. Some of my destinations are Huncote, Narbourgh,Bradgate Park and Leciester and a practice room.

At the moment I am adapting my storyboard to fit this new idea. I will post more updates as they come.

Feedback on my Feedback

After hearing the feedback from my pitch I have decided to slightly refine my idea. Where I was going to use neon paint in the dark to give the Illusion of brightness I have decided due to the difficulty of filming in the dark to utilise the headlight of a car to get the effects of professional lighting. I also hit the wall of me being in the band and having to replace myself with someone or finding a way around this. At this time I am trying to find a way for my band to not lose its identity but still not feature the front man. I will keep posting as updates in this occur.

Updated Artist Pitch

This song is by my own band No More Adventures. The song in the animoto is not the song I will be using in my video due to it not being recorded yet. the song in the animoto is called "A Little Was Said Too Fast" whereas the song I am using in my video is called "The Desert Song". I choose The Desert Song because as a band it is one of the songs I am most proud of. It is slightly different to what we usually play and has a fun vibe. It falls into the genre of "Alternative" or "Punk Rock". I wrote the song while on a family holiday in America. It is about isolation from your freinds and the rest of the world and how if your not careful you can drift through life without realising it then at the end of the line you wish you did somthing more. It uses metaphores to do with the desert to show this. I am going to make a video under the genre "Disjuncture" becuase the song in its self has a quiet meloncholy tone and an abstract video would suit it well. What I am planning to do is go to an abandoned sand quarry near where I live at night. Take sufficant lighting and but some second hand intstruments, so therefore there will be a performance aspect but it will not be imidietly evident. I am going to buy some glow in the dark paint and paint certain parts of the guitars and drum kits in it. Also I am going to paint my lips in it and small parts of my face so even though it is dark you will still be able to watch the performance as if it was light. In the background I will be having extras with balloons full of the paint having a fight with the balloons. Explosions of light will appear from no where and it should creat quiet a good atmosphere. At the end the lights will turn on we will smash our instruments and join in with the fight.

Audience profile and market research

I am aiming my video to appeal to overall a Young Alt Crowd. Within this bracket comes Skaters, Emos, metalhead's, gamers, townies, rah's and indie scenestars. I am trying to appeal to this audience because the artist (me) is of the same generation as who he is trying to appeal to, therefore I feel like i can relate to my audience alot better than if i were trying to appeal to a elderly audience for example. The typical attitudes of this generation is anarchy, a lack of motivation and a desire to fail but whereas some people do have this attitude I am trying to relate to these people but at the same time change their attitude. For my video I am planning on going to a local abandoned quarry in the dark. Painting the band in glow in the dark paint and performing. I am not planning for an sort of naritive or story relying purely on the performance aspect to fuel my video. In the background I am going to have extras running around unseen throwing balloons full of the paint and having a fight with them providing something else for the eye to see while the performance is happening.

Video Ideas

These are a few examples of what i would like to do with my video. I like the idea of riots and anarchy but as you will see in the later videos I would like a edgy maybe even Melancholy touch to the whole thing.

Biography

No More Adventures. We are a Leicester based Space-Alt 3 piece who have played many venues throughout Leicester such as Lock 42, The Soundhouse and the Musician. We have played with the likes of One less finger, Centre Excuse and We're Not Worthy. After being in a few bands that went nowhere Jack Olund and Tom Ak decided they wanted to make a change and started No More Adventures off the backbone of a previous band called Tetris Effect. After finding the drumming skills of Jack Mugglestone they set their minds on making this band work, unlike so many others had before them. After some hard work and a direction change they played their first gig at The Shed in Leicester. From that moment on they have played many venues all around Leicester such as The Soundhouse, Lock 42 and even the O2 academy.
