Evaluation Question 4

Question 4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Technology I used in my final piece. The planning, research and evaluation pages. There are 4 main groups:

Creating

Editing:
A basic handheld camera was used to film my piece. It was a relatively good quality camera so a reasonable standard of quality was ensured. It also made the handheld scenes very easy to shoot.

Mobile Phone:
This modern technology makes blogging, researching and documenting much easier. The Blogger app makes documenting anything I find relevant to my piece very easy. I can blog on the go and if I need a piece of information about my piece I can easily Google it on the go.

Sony Vegas 9.0:
I used Sony Vegas 9.0 to edit my piece due to its easy interface and effective editing tools. The filter that I used throughout my piece is just a default filter in the Vegas library and I think it gives my video an edge. It helped my create a satisfying end product.

Photoshop:
When producing my digipack Photoshop was the go to program. With previous experience using Photoshop editing everything was very easy and let me have full creative control over what I wanted my product to look like.

Feedback

Twitter:
Having a band Twitter gives the band instant access and connection to their fan base.It also lets you advertise any products the band has to offer.

Blogger:
Having a band Blogger opens up the band to a whole new audience. Compared to Twitter, Blogger is known for having a more intellectual audience amongst its midst. It also lets the band advertise in the same way as Twitter but lets the band post highly detailed Blogs that give the fans an insight into what the band is up to at that point.

Presentation

Animoto:
I used this software during my pitch. I think it offers a professional looking pitch that grabs then attention of the audience without bombarding them with too much information.

Miscellaneous

YouTube:
YouTube is very helpful because it helps me finds points of inspiration to draw upon when I was making my piece. I can access any video I want and this lets me find things I like in them and homage them in my own piece.

MP3 Player:
This was useful for playing the song when the band were trying to mime/perform. It allowed me to perfectly lip sync the video along with the actual song.

In Perspective

This is commonly known as the most expensive music video ever made. The artist is Michael Jackson in a collaboration with his sister Janet. He was always known for his elaborate advertising campaigns for example in promotion for his album "HIStory" several statues made of marble were erected in several different countries around the world. The whole advertising campagine cost Sony a total of $30 million.
This is the actule video for the song I'm using for my music video. It was filmed in the bassist mum's lounge at a party had no budget and no storyboard. It was filmed off the cuff and was not planned, they were just midway through a set decided to film it. This style of music video stayed with them up until they headlined Brixton Academy in London without even signing a record deal, this makes them the first independent band to do this ever. It has 4.5 million views on youtube which admittedly only a sixth of the 24 million that Scream has but in my opinion this is a better video.

Coincidence

After the disaster I had filming my draft music video this video by the recently famous Don Broco reminded me that production values and a solid concept isnt everything.
